Blinded by the (silver) light

You know, I am a real big fan of Pat Helland. I have never met the man, never corresponded with him, but find some of his content to be out-of-the-ballpark outstanding.

I'd love to watch the video on irresistible forces meeting movable objects but I need SilverLight to do it.

Now I'm on Linux at the moment and there is no SilverLight plug-in for Linux so that's it. I'm skipping over it. What a pity.

  1. Yes, in the light of Steve Ballmer's reservations about viral licensing of open source software it's rather amusing the way Microsoft are trying to make SilverLight content viral, in a somewhat different way.

For what it's worth, I'm a holdout too. Silverlight is glitzy, but it seems to add nothing essential.

  2. FWIW, the Mono people are working on a Linux component to display Silverlight content.
